Stephen Amell has found his next product after Arrow wraps its final season, and it’s one that is definitely in his wheelhouse. Variety reports that Amell will star in Heels, a drama about a small-town independent wrestling company. The show will follow a family-owned wrestling company in Georgia town, run by two brothers turned rivals (one of which played by Amell). Mike O’Malley, of GUTS and other shows you probably like that aren’t GUTS, has signed on to be the showrunner.
Amell is no stranger to professional wrestling, making his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2015, teaming with Neville to defeat Stardust (real-life friend Cody Rhodes) and King Barrett. Since then he has wrestled a few more times, including a well-received singles match against Christopher Daniels at last August’s All In PPV. Amell reached out to Cody following this news via Twitter:

Interesting. I feel like I’ve waited a long time for someone to take pro wrestling seriously enough to make a good TV show out of it, and Heels has a lot of promise. At the very least Starz has fleeced some money from me so I can catch the first few episodes (and maybe recap/review them here). No word on when Heels will debut.
