FATAL FIVE WAY
“The Premier Athlete” Tony Nese vs. Ariya Daivari vs. Ashante Thee Adonis vs. Curt Stallion vs. August Grey
Winner of this one receives a future NXT Cruiserweight Championship match. Looks like this is going to be a one-match show. I can respect it. Stallion/Grey/Daivari/Nese have been the main feud on the show for the past month and change, while Adonis has been on NXT assisting in the fight against Legado del Fantasma, the group NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar is the leader of.
Adonis rolls out of the ring, letting the other four battle each other while he waits to take advantage. Smart move. Grey and Stallion clear Nese & Daivari out of the ring, Adonis tries to roll in but gets caught and Grey rolls Stallion up for a two-count, surprising his friend. They lock up, Daivari and Nese go on the attack. Adonis connects with forearms to Nese and Daivari, who have apparently enlisted THE BOLLYWOOD BOYZ to help one of them win tonight. Spinebuster to Daivari for the 1…2…not yet. Daivari drives Adonis into the corner, he and Nese double-team and toss him to the floor. Daivari and Nese sarcastically lock hands, Grey takes them both down with a double crossbody. Stallion misses a lariat, Grey sweeps the legs for a one-count and connects with a basement dropkick. Adonis drops Grey with a dropkick of his own and goes on the offense, hammer throwing Grey into the corner and talking trash. Adonis tells Grey it’s his time, Stallion joins him saying “yeah it’s his time i guess”. They battle, Stallion connects with a double stomp for the 1…2…Nese and Daivari break it up and work Stallion over. Stallion fights back with chops, Nese dazes him with a forearm and they connect with a double back elbow. Adonis hops the apron, Nese sends him back down and Daivari rams him on the steps. Nese splashes Stallion for a one-count. Nese and Daivari connect with a delayed double vertical suplex, Grey comes in and they go for the same move but Grey flips out and connects with strikes to both. Nese catches Grey with a knee, Grey immediately connects with a kick and a throw for the 1…2…Daivari breaks it up. Daivari bails to the floor, distracting Grey and allowing Nese to drop him throat-first across the top rope. Nese misses the follow-up springboard moonsault, Grey rolls to the floor and drops Daivari, Nese sends him into the table with a baseball slide. Nese and Daivari faceplant Grey on the table, Nese makes Joseph flinch which McGuiness has fun with.
Adonis clobbers Daivari on the floor, Nese drops Grey with a forearm for the 1…2…not yet. McGuinness with the weekly reminder of Jordan Devlin being the “real” NXT Cruiserweight Champion. Nese slams Grey, applies a chinlock while Daivari kicks away anyone who tries to intervene. Adonis tosses Daivari out and grabs a sleeperhold on Nese. Nese rolls Adonis off, Adonis sends him to the floor. Daivari sends Adonis to the floor, Stallion connects with a release German suplex, corner big boot, corner knee, corner dropkick, footstomp into the pull-in DDT for the 1…2…Nese breaks it up. Stallion counters a something or another with a backdrop into a neckbreaker over the knee for the 1…2…Nese kicks out. Grey clobbers Stallion from behind, hanging double arm DDT for the 1…2…Adonis breaks it up. Adonis connects with a gutwrench faceslam for the 1…2…Daivari breaks it up. Daivari spikes Adonis with a urinage for the 1…2…Grey pulls him off but gets sent into the stairs. Daivari rolls Grey back in, Persian Frog Splash for the 1…2…Grey kicks out and Stallion double stomps Daivari for the 1…2…Daivari kicks out and Nese hits Stallion with a 450 Splash for the 1…2…STALLION KICKS OUT. Grey superkicks Nese for the 1…2…THE BOLLYWOOD BOYZ (Samir & Sunil Singh) BREAK IT UP AND ATTACK GREY. Adonis helps Grey fight The Bollywood Boyz off and clear them from the ring. In comes EVER-RISE (Chase Parker & Matt Martel) to attack Grey and Adonis. Martel gets cleared from the ring, Parker turns into a human pinball courtesy of Grey, Stallion, & Adonis. Stallion with a tope on Ever-Rise, Grey with a tope on the Bollywood Boyz. Daivari wraps a chain around his hand and clobbers Adonis with it for the 1…2…leaping save from Grey! Grey slams Daivari for the 1…2…Nese breaks it up. Nese rolls through a sunset flip and connects with a spinning superkick to Grey. Stallion to the top, Nese stuns him with a palm strike. Stallion escapes a superplex attempt and connects with a headbutt followed by an inverted Spanish Fly for the 1…2…3!
Curt Stallion defeated Tony Nese, Ashante Thee Adonis, Ariya Daivari, & August Grey via pinfall (18:43)
- A chaotic mess of a match as expected but had some great spots, both wrestling-wise and comedy-wise (Stallion kneeling next to Adonis to join in on the trash talk f*cking ruled). Ever-Rise and The Bollywood Boyz interfering made sense from an “insurance policy” standpoint I guess but I could have done without it. Stallion picking up the win rocks as his stock continues to rise in the Cruiserweight Division, I just hope his title match actually happens on the show and not on an episode of NXT or something. 205 Live deserves at least ONE title match since that’s where the damn title started. FINAL THOUGHTS: Literal one match show but the match isn’t all that bad and had some actual stakes to it so it’s not a total bad thing. Your mileage may vary depending on your opinion multi-man matches though.
