Akira Tozawa vs. Erik

Tozawa ducks a clothesline, Erik blocks a rana but Tozawa fights out and catches him with a kick. Tozawa with a shoulderblock, Erik bounces against the ropes then sends Tozawa FLYING with a shoulderblock of his own. Monty Brown would be proud. Erik catches a crossbody attempt, turns it into an overhead throw for a two-count. Tozawa dodges corner double knees, lays in a series of rights and stomps. Erik easily kicks out of a senton, Tozawa changes gears to a reverse chinlock. Erik embarks on a comeback, connecting with a pair of knees and a forearm followed by a sorta Freak Accident for a two-count. Tozawa flips through a hip toss, Erik belts him with a knee strike. Erik ducks a spin kick, Erik connects with a half nelson knee strike for the 1…2…3.

Erik defeated Akira Tozawa via pinfall (5:06)

  • Erik records his first singles win in WWE in a decent match. Tozawa doesn’t seem to really be doing much with the whole ninja gimmick now so maybe they can cycle him out and have him do something else. Also SAMOA JOE DOING COMMENTARY ON MAIN EVENT IS WEIRD. (*1/2)

Humberto Carrillo vs. Gran Metalik [w/ Lince Dorado]

Carrillo defeated Dorado on last week’s show, so he’s looking to make it 2-0 against The Lucha House Party. That’s about as much story as we’re getting here and you know what? I’ll take it.

Carrillo and Metalik go tit for tat at the start, countering and flipping around in a stalemate. Carrillo ducks a clothesline, hits a springboard armdrag. Metalik sent to the middle buckle, makes the most of it with a headscissors followed by an armdrag into an armbar. Carrillo sent to the apron, comes back in with an armdrag into an armbar of his own. Nice. Lince Dorado looking JACKED, good on him.

Back to the show as Carrillo cinches in an abdominal stretch. Metalik tries to counter, Carillo takes him to the mat with a hip toss for a two-count. Metalik rolls Carrillo up for a two-count, Carrillo chops him into the corner. Metalik tries to roll into a headscissors, Carrillo picks him for a slam but Metalik adjusts in mid-air to land a DDT. Carrillo ducks a clothesline and connects with a springboard kick to the face for the 1…2…Metalik gets the shoulder up. Carrillo goes for a moonsault, rolling through to land on his feet when Metalik moves, then hits a backbreaker followed by his sitout facebuster for the 1…2…3.

Humberto Carrillo defeated Gran Metalik via pinfall (6:54 shown)

  • Some good lucha things, Carrillo really making Lucha House Party eat his lunch these past couple of weeks. Should’ve let him join the team back in the 205 Live days. (*3/4)

FINAL THOUGHTS: Carrillo/Metalik has some cool spots and SAMOA JOE on commentary is a nice treat. That’s all I got.
